The color of the grout is determined by the type of stone being used. If you have marble tiles, then white grout would look best. If you have granite, then black grout would look best since it matches the natural appearance of the stone. You should always consider what looks good aesthetically before choosing a particular grout color.

  1. Grout Finish

Grout finish refers to how smooth the surface of the grout is. Smooth finishes tend to be easier to clean than rough finishes. A smooth finish also tends to hold stains longer than a rough finish. However, if you want to keep the grout looking fresh and clean, then a rough finish may be better.

  1. Grout Type

There are two types of grouts: latex and acrylic. Both types are durable and long lasting, but they do have different characteristics. Acrylic grouts are water-based and latex grouts are oil-based. Water-based grouts dry out faste than oil-based grouts. Oil-based grouts tend to be thicker than latex grouts.

  1. Grout Cleaning Method

You can use either a sponge or a brush to clean grout. Sponges are great for cleaning small areas, while brushes are better for larger surfaces. When using a brush, make sure to work in circular motions to avoid scratching the surface of the grouting.

  1. Grout Maintenance

To maintain your grout, apply a grout sealer once a year. Sealers help prevent staining and extend the life of your grout. To remove stubborn stains, mix equal parts vinegar and water and scrub the stain with a toothbrush.
